October Updates

MEETING CORRECTION TIME - MEETING IS WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 14!!!

Howdy to the members-to-be! We're gearing up for our elections next week! So far we have a hefty ballot which includes Timmy, Adriana, Audriana, Stephen, Nick, Ethan, Tyler, Allison, Hayley, Trevor and maybe one or two others! The candidates may want to go to the BPA website to download the National Officer Fact Sheet. You can find it linked off this page. The top 5 vote-getters next week will have an interview with Mrs. Powers and me in the near future. I would think that we would pull some questions out of this fact sheet. (for sure!)

If anyone else wants to be included on the ballot, please let me know by Friday. Expectations from the officers are high - so don't run if you can't commit. Officers have to be present at all of our functions, have to attend all meetings, have to assist other members and me, and be the best cheerleaders for our chapter. Special officer meetings will also take place during the school year.

Everyone is reminded to submit their dues of $22 by the October 14 meeting. Looking forward to some exciting things!

BP's Got Talent! YAY Curtis!

Congratulations to Curtis for winning first place in the talent show! If you weren't there, Curtis sang Flake by Jack Johnson. He had the crowd into it and it even looked like he winked at Ms. Fiero. Way to go, Curtis! What did you guys think of the talent show?

Thanks to the alumni that were there! I saw Beth, Sarah, Shaun, Kevin, Melissa, Sam...and a bunch of others! :) Thanks for supporting! Dallas, here we come!

A special thanks to everyone who helped in large or small ways. You know it can't be done without a small army. Thanks, thanks, thanks!

Car Wash

Hey Everyone! We are having a car wash on Sunday, April 27 from 9:00 to 1:00 p.m. The money we make for the car wash will not only go to our national team, but will also help Kevin Benjamin raise the $200 he needs for his candicacy. Those of you who volunteered for the car wash should show up at school at 8:35 a.m. on April 27. Bring old clothes. Kevin will be making sandwich signs for students to wear while standing at the entrance of Hart St. and Rt. 140.

Hoping to make at least $200 on this event! Tell everyone you know. $5.00 per car!

Alumni - you're welcome to come get your car washed for $4.00!! Just mention that you are BPA alumni (I'll be there to verify!) and you'll get a discount. I'd love to see you!

Congrats!

I'd like to congratulate all of the students who went to states March 8, 9, and 10! You are all a bunch of bright, energetic, fun students and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole weekend. We've been back for two days now, and I think I just finally recovered! I bet you guys were all fine yesterday - that's because you have youth on your side. :)

I'd like to know what your thoughts were of the weekend. Post your responses here - like: Did your events play out like you thought they would? Did you meet a lot of new friends? Did you like Roller Kingdom? Did you like the food? Was it harder than you thought, or easier? Will you do better next year knowing what you know now?

If you did not make the national team - I know you must be disappointed. I am too because I know many of you worked extremely hard. But hopefully you have another year to give it another go! Take what you learned this year and apply it to next year and hopefully you can make it to Dallas!

To the students who made it to nationals - YEAH, BP! We have a lot to decide in the next couple of weeks - so sit tight and wait for the info from me. In the meantime - reprint your guideline for your event and read it very carefully. We have national deadlines - probably April 1 or 2 where we have to mail out certain items. If you miss this deadline - you won't go to nationals!

A special congrats to Kevin for his bid for national office! He's going to need our whole chapter behind him as he embarks on uncharted territory! Be supportive and let's help get him to office!

Over and out for now....

A Good Time Had By All!

Wow, was it cold today! I would like to thank the kids who showed up to walk; Kevin, Shaun, Amy, Tim, Chris, Jessica, Courtney, Bobby, Kayla, Maria (Kayla's friend) Caitlyn, and Arsenio. (going from memory around the table!) It was a nice brisk walk and when we got inside the hotel, all of our cheeks were red. Well, mine were. :)

So how much money do you think we raised? I'll tell you so you're not in suspense. We raised just over $1,500! Kudos to you guys. To the people who couldn't make it, I appreciate your donations too. You should have seen all of the special athletes at the Jolly Jaunt today. They truly are so special and they warm my heart. It's just a great feeling knowing that we help these kids and adults be all they can be.

So, I'm going to go enjoy a cup of hot cocoa. Thanks again everyone. You never cease to amaze me!

Oh! Congratulations to Bobby for collecting the most donations. He has a nice prize coming to him on Monday! Thanks for all your efforts, Bobby!!

Special Olympics - Jolly Jaunt

So yeah! The Jolly Jaunt is this weekend!! If you would like to donate to this worthwhile cause, click the link shown above.

I need everyone to bring me their cash donations by Friday. If you are walking, then I need you to show up at 11:30 this weekend. I will already have your money on Friday and can register us as a team. It's worked out very smoothly the past few years.

Alumni - you are welcome to attend with us. I just ask that if you attend, you raise the $35.00 entry fee. Please comment here or send me an email if you are planning to be part of the team. Oh, you could also register for our team online at the link above.

Won't it be cool to raise more money than TMLP this year????

Hoping for a blow-out (in donations - not my tires) :)

New Officers

I'm not sure who is checking the blog yet, but I thought I'd tell you that we have a meeting on Monday, October 15 at 9:30 in the cafeteria. We'll be voting on our officers. Members who have paid dues may attend the meeting.

Candidates who have turned in their forms so far? Kevin Benjamin for President, Sarah Fabianski for Secretary and Michael Williams for Treasurer. Good luck to everyone! I'm excited for a productive, fun year....
